Protect your eyes during every partial phase

Never look directly at the Sun without proper solar viewing protection. Eclipse glasses or handheld viewers must comply with the ISO 12312-2 standard. Ordinary sunglasses are not safe. Only during totality—when the Sun’s bright face is completely covered—can observers inside the path briefly view without a solar filter.

Reviewing the 2026 eclipse

Was the 12 August 2026 eclipse total at my location?

Totality is visible only inside the narrow path crossing Greenland, Iceland, northern Russia, Spain and a small part of Portugal. Skystral uses your selected location to identify whether your view is total, partial or below the horizon.

Why do viewing direction and Sun altitude matter?

In Spain and Portugal the eclipse happens close to sunset. A clear view toward the local Sun position can therefore be as important as being inside the path. Skystral shows the direction and altitude for the important phases.

Can I use Skystral without installing the app?

Yes. Skystral runs directly in a modern browser. The Android version is also available on Google Play for people who prefer an installed app.

Does Skystral replace certified eye protection?

No. Skystral helps you plan where and when to look, but safe solar viewing equipment is essential throughout every partial phase.
