What was supposed to be the best weekend in the year ended in tragedy Thursday evening. The toll of this violent storm: 4 dead, 8 heavily injured and more than 140 injured.
Me and my friends only suffered material damage, which is nothing compared to what some others went through. Therefor I would like to express huge respect for everybody involved.
In the organizers words:
The Pukkelpop organizers wish to express their sincere thanks and gratitude to all the Pukkelpop visitors, their parents, relatives and friends. Also to the artists, festival colleagues, sponsors, neighbors, organizations and people that have expressed their sympathy. These are hard times. We are getting tens of thousands of positive reactions and messages of encouragement directly or via text messages, emails, Facebook, Twitter, community etc.
It warms our hearts to receive so many kind words of sympathy and support!
If in any case we would be compensated for the tickets, me, and I’m sure many others, will donate the money to the “Steunfonds Pukkelpop Slachtoffers” (Fund for Pukkelpop Victims) and/or give it back to the organization.
I sincerely hope there will be a Pukkelpop 2012, if it were only to pay respects to the victims.
Please also visit the official Pukkelpop facebook page and the official website to pay your respects. I’m sure it means a lot to all affected by this horrible storm.
